We’re looking for some talented, enthusiastic people with an avid interest in food. We have vacancies for full time positions; though will consider part-time roles for the right candidates. Latimers Seafood is a successful and award winning fishmonger and cafe business, with a 5 star food hygiene rating. We are situated right on the beach at Whitburn, in South Tyneside. As well as joining an experienced and brilliant team, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the fish quays, meet our fisherman and see all aspects of our business.

ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER

No specific fishmonger experience is necessary as we can teach you what you need to know, but an interest in food and impeccable standards of customer service are a must. You will be accountable for the day-to-day running of the shop, assisting owner Robert Latimer. You will need to ensure that our staff perform well, are kept informed on all of our products and adhere to our very high standards of product presentation and food safety. You will have a lot of contact with our customers and will in many ways be the face of the store. You should be confident and competent in this environment and must have some previous management (or supervisor) experience.

EXPERIENCED FISH FILLETER

You must be skilled in the processing and filleting of a wide range of fish and shell fish. Experience in smoking fish would be desirable, however full training will be given.

DELI COUNTER STAFF

For this position we want outgoing people with an enthusiasm for food. It’s a really important role within the company – we take a lot of time and care sourcing and preparing excellent quality produce and you will be our point of contact with our customers, so you must be confident talking to people about this. There will be seafood preparation involved but we can teach you what you need to know. Some retail or restaurant experience is desired but not essential.

REALITY CHECK

  • These jobs do involve working at the weekend
  • Normal opening hours 8am-6pm Tuesday – Sunday and also on Mondays during School Holidays
  • We are open on all bank holidays except Christmas, Boxing and New Years Day
  • Whitburn is on the coast between South Shields and Sunderland. There is a bus route that passes outside our door that links to South Shields, Sunderland and Seaburn Metro Station
