Christmas Charity Carol Concert raises £390!!!
Many thanks to everyone who came to our Christmas Charity Carol Concert all the way back in December (it feels like an awfully long time ago…)
We had another wonderful evening, lots of familiar faces in the audience and a couple of new ones too – some of those who had been before commented it was the best performance they had been too; “Beautiful singing and readings!” Everyone tucked into the “light” supper – delicious bacon sandwiches and soups, followed by the mince pies and Ailsa’s Christmas Cake which went down very well indeed (there wasn’t any left!)
Whitburn Church Choir once again also thoroughly enjoyed themselves – they had a “right good sing” (after the traditional tipple of homemade damson gin to loosen the vocal cords), The 2 choir boys deserve special mention in dispatches for providing the focal point for Tom Thumb – a piece they had learned specially for the occasion.
The choir were thrilled when totting up to have raised £390, they received generous donations on the night, a hefty slice from the ticket sales and a generous donation from Latimers too. The proceeds are split between the Children’s Society, Save theChildren and the Choir – which they put towards purchasing new music some of which may find its way into this years concert…
