Sustainability: Why it Matters

How has certain seafood became unsustainable? Although oceans cover more than 70 percent of our planet, they are not infinitely resilient, and our quest for more and more seafood has brought considerable strain upon the ocean’s ecosystem. One over-fished species will not only threaten that species, but the entire food chain.

What is sustainable seafood? Plentiful species, including those smaller and lower on the food chain, which can reproduce quickly to sustain their populations.

Our policy: We specialise in providing fresh, daily, local sustainable catches, and superb variety to our customers. We routinely offer fifty different types of fish for you to choose from- 90% of which is caught within a 25 mile radius. We also have an in-house policy of allowing the seasons to govern what we offer, ensuring we only work with reputable local fisherman who use sustainable fishing methods such as day boats with only one net.  We are part of a responsible fishing scheme, our fisherman use crab and lobster pots and when possible we use line caught fishing methods.

If you ever have any concerns or questions regarding the seafood we offer and its sustainability, please do not hesitate to ask, we are more than happy to help!
